Emmanuel Bobbie: A Tribute to Ghana Life

02/27/2021

The countless photographs of Emmanuel Bobbie aka Bob Pixel online characterize his passionate love of the authentic image. The breadth of his work can easily be classified as a combination of Nana Kofi Acquah's strong African women and Yaw Pare's inviting travel shots. Another aspect of him is more along the journalistic lines of James Barnor and Abel Gayvolor. In short, Bob Pixel's work is simply Ghana, captured.

Bobbie completed KNUST (Design and visual Communication) two decades ago, focused on a vision to chronicle Ghana life, giving dignity to everyday faces and mundane activities of ordinary people and celebrities alike. His view of Ghana is beautiful and haunting in its simplicity. And for that, we celebrate his life.

Bobbie, still shy of 50, died Thursday February 26, joining luminaries Mary Wilson, co-founder of The Supremes, former boxing heavyweight champion Leon Spinks, Oscar-nominated actress Cicely Tyson, jazz pianist Chick Corea, and talk show host Larry King.

Here, a random sprinkling of his genius.
